- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and coat each ball in granulated sugar.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Immediately press a chocolate heart candy into the center of each cookie while still warm.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Let cookies cool slightly before adding chocolate hearts to prevent melting. Store in an airtight container to keep cookies fresh for up to a week.
