Valentine Chocolate Sugar Cookies

These delightful chocolate sugar cookies are perfect for sharing love on Valentine's Day. Decorated with milk chocolate M&M's, they are both tasty and festive.

Ingredients
  

Sugar Cookies
  • 250 g granulated sugar
  • 226 g butter room temperature
  • 1 g egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 60 g dutch process cocoa powder
  • 1/2 bag milk chocolate Valentine M&M's

Equipment

  • Rolling Pin
  • Cookie Cutters
  • Baking Sheet

Method
 

  1. In mixer- combine butter & sugar. Beat on medium speed until light & fluffy.
  2. Turn the mixer to low & add egg & vanilla. Beat until just combined.
  3. Slowly beat in flour & cocoa.
  4. Transfer dough to large piece of parchment paper.
  5. Place another piece on top & roll out to about 1/4 inch thick piece of cookie dough between the 2 sheets of parchment.
  6. Place on cutting board & refrigerate at least 30 minutes.
  7. Once dough is finished chilling- preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  8. Remove top layer of parchment & use your cutters to cut your hearts.
  9. Use a thin spatula to transfer cut out cookies to ungreased cookie sheet.
  10. Place your M&M's on your cookies & bake 10-13 minutes.
  11. Allow to cool on baking sheet completely before transferring to airtight container.
  12. Repeat rolling, cutting & baking until you have used all the dough.

Notes

Make sure to chill the dough for at least 30 minutes to make it easier to cut and handle. These cookies make a wonderful gift when packaged in a festive box.
