  • 240 ml shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese Provolone gives a sharper flavor.
  • 1 g small onion, finely diced Adds flavor and moisture.
  • 1 g green bell pepper, finely diced Adds a fresh, crisp taste.
  • 120 ml mushrooms, chopped Optional, but adds earthiness.
  • 2 g cloves garlic, minced Enhances the overall flavor.
  • 120 ml breadcrumbs Helps bind the meatloaf.
  • 1 g egg Acts as a binding agent.
  • 15 ml Worcestershire sauce Adds depth and umami.
  • 1 tsp salt Season to taste.
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper Adjust pepper to taste.
  • 15 ml olive oil For sautéing vegetables.
  • optional g extra provolone slices for topping For a cheesy top layer.

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, and garlic until soft.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, sautéed vegetables, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  4. Fold in the shredded cheese, mixing gently.
  5. Press the mixture into a loaf pan. If desired, top with extra provolone slices.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until cooked through. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or a side salad for a complete meal. Leftovers make great sandwiches!
