  • 1 tsp salt essential for flavor
  • 240 ml warm water about 100-110°F
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar to activate yeast
  • 1 tbsp instant dry yeast for leavening
  • 300-375 g all-purpose flour for structure
  • 1 tsp dried basil for herb flavor
  • 1 tsp dried oregano for herb flavor
  • 2 tsp dried rosemary for herb flavor
  • 6 cloves garlic finely chopped for topping
  • 80 g parmesan cheese grated for topping
  • 1 tbsp butter split for topping
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for drizzling

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add salt, 2 cups of flour, basil, oregano, and rosemary. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5 minutes, adding more flour if needed, until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Place the loaf on a baking sheet. Mix chopped garlic, parmesan, and butter, then spread over the dough.
  7. Drizzle with olive oil and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
