Ingredients

Pasta
  • 340 g rotini pasta
Beef and Sauce
  • 454 g ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 480 ml milk
  • 100 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Pot

Method

  1. Cook the Pasta: Start by boiling the rotini pasta in salted water according to the package instructions. Once done, drain the pasta and set aside.
  2. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
  3. Make the Sauce: Sprinkle the flour over the beef and garlic mixture. Stir well to combine, then slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Add Parmesan and Seasonings: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Continue to stir until the cheese melts and the sauce becomes creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked rotini to the skillet, tossing everything together to coat the pasta in the garlic Parmesan sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Serve the Beef and Rotini in Garlic Parmesan Sauce in bowls, topped with fresh parsley for a burst of color and freshness.

Notes

For a lighter version, consider using ground turkey instead of beef and low-fat milk. Try adding some red pepper flakes for a spicy kick or swap rotini for your favorite pasta shape.
