- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Layer the sliced potatoes and onion in an oven-safe dish.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then add flour and stir until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar until melted.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the potatoes and onions, ensuring even coverage.
- Season the pork chops with salt and black pepper and place on top of the potato mixture.
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour. Remove foil for the last 10 minutes to brown the top.
Notes
For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of nutmeg to the cheese sauce. Serve with a side of steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
