Ingredients

Cheese Sticks
  • 12 pieces mozzarella cheese sticks Use string cheese for ease.
  • 180 g all-purpose flour Helps the coating stick.
  • 2 pieces large eggs Beaten in a shallow bowl.
  • 225 g seasoned breadcrumbs Provides a crunchy texture.
  • 1.5 tbsp Cajun seasoning Adjust to taste.
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder Adds a subtle garlic flavor.
  • 60 g grated Parmesan cheese For extra flavor.
  • 500 ml Oil For frying.
  • to taste Dipping sauce Serve warm.
  • to taste Fresh parsley For garnish.

Equipment

  • Frying Pan

Method

  1. Prepare the coating: Place the flour in one shallow bowl. Beat the eggs in a second bowl. In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and Parmesan.
  2. Coat the cheese: Roll each mozzarella stick in flour, dip into the beaten egg, then coat generously with the Cajun breadcrumb mixture.
  3. Double coat: For an extra-crispy crust, dip each stick back into the egg and breadcrumbs once more. Press the crumbs firmly onto the cheese.
  4. Chill: Place the coated cheese sticks on a tray and freeze for 30–60 minutes. This helps keep the cheese from melting too quickly during frying.
  5. Fry: Heat about 1½ inches of oil to 350°F. Fry the cheese sticks in small batches for about 1–2 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain: Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and let excess oil drain.
  7. Serve: Sprinkle with parsley and a little extra Cajun seasoning. Serve immediately with warm dipping sauce while the cheese is gooey.

Notes

Don't overcrowd the pan, and keep the oil around 350°F for a crisp coating without letting the cheese escape.
