Ingredients

Croissants
  • 4 pcs large croissants Preferably fresh bakery croissants
Filling
  • 8 slices bacon Cooked until crispy
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese Use your favorite cheddar
  • 50 g shredded cheddar cheese Adds extra cheesiness
Topping
  • 30 ml butter Melted for brushing
  • 15 ml mayonnaise Spread thinly inside croissants
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder Enhances the flavor
  • 0.5 tsp everything bagel seasoning Sprinkle on top for extra flavor
  • 0.25 tsp black pepper Mix with melted butter

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Method

  1. Fry the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and let the excess grease drain.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Carefully slice each croissant horizontally, keeping the bottom and top connected if possible. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the inside of each croissant. Add a slice of cheddar cheese, followed by 2 slices of crispy bacon and a little shredded cheddar.
  4. Mix the melted butter with garlic powder and black pepper. Brush the mixture lightly over the tops of the croissants and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
  5. Place the croissants in the oven and bake for 8–12 minutes, until the pastry is golden and the cheese is completely melted.
  6. Let them cool for a couple of minutes before serving while the cheese is still warm and gooey.

Notes

Bake the croissants just until the cheese melts and the tops turn golden; overbaking can make the delicate pastry dry and less flaky.
