Method
- Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- In a shallow bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge each onion ring first in the flour, shaking off excess. Then dip it in the beaten eggs, followed by coating it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for about 5 minutes.
- Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated onion rings in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they don’t touch.
- Spray the tops of the onion rings lightly with cooking spray. Air fry at 400°F for 5 minutes.
- Flip the onion rings, spray again with cooking spray, and air fry for an additional 5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Repeat with remaining onion rings if necessary.
Notes
For extra crispiness, let the coated onion rings sit for a few minutes before air frying. Serve immediately for the best texture.
