Ingredients

Onion Rings
  • 2 large onions Peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch rings
  • 240 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs Beaten
  • 240 g breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
  • 1 cucchiaino garlic powder
  • 1 cucchiaino paprika
  • 0.5 cucchiaino salt
  • 0.5 cucchiaino black pepper
  • as needed Cooking spray or olive oil spray For spraying the air fryer basket and onion rings

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Method

  1. Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
  2. In a shallow bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, beat the eggs. In a third bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge each onion ring first in the flour, shaking off excess. Then dip it in the beaten eggs, followed by coating it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for about 5 minutes.
  5. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated onion rings in a single layer in the basket, ensuring they don’t touch.
  6. Spray the tops of the onion rings lightly with cooking spray. Air fry at 400°F for 5 minutes.
  7. Flip the onion rings, spray again with cooking spray, and air fry for an additional 5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Repeat with remaining onion rings if necessary.

Notes

For extra crispiness, let the coated onion rings sit for a few minutes before air frying. Serve immediately for the best texture.
