Method
- Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
- Pat the Cornish hens dry with paper towels. This helps achieve a crispy skin.
- In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and thyme.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the hens, including under the skin for maximum flavor.
- Squeeze the juice from one lemon half over the hens and place the lemon halves inside the cavity of each hen.
- Place the hens in the air fryer basket, breast side down, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
- Cook for 20 minutes, then carefully flip the hens over to breast side up and continue cooking for an additional 20 minutes.
- Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer; it should read 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
- Let the hens rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra crispy skin, increase the temperature to 400°F during the last 5 minutes of cooking. Serve with your favorite side dishes like roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.
