Pumpkin Dog Treats

Wholesome, homemade Pumpkin Dog Treats made with just a few simple ingredients. These crunchy, dog-friendly biscuits are tail-wagging approved and great for digestive health!

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 30 small treats 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (unsweetened, not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
  • Optional: 2 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • Optional: 2 tbsp rolled oats

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and egg. Mix until smooth.
  3. Gradually stir in the whole wheat flour and any optional add-ins until a firm dough forms.
  4. Roll dough on a floured surface to ¼ inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters.
  5. Place treats on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden and crisp. For softer treats, bake for 15–18 minutes.
  7. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Make sure peanut butter is xylitol-free—it’s toxic to dogs.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days, refrigerate for 2 weeks, or freeze for 3 months.
  • Use oat or rice flour for a wheat-free option.
  • Fresh pumpkin can be used in place of canned—just roast, puree, and cool before using.
  • Add shredded carrots, apples, or chia seeds for extra nutrition.
