- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup dried bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- ⅓ cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, milk, bread crumbs, and egg. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan and shape evenly.
- In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard until well combined.
- Pour the ketchup mixture over the meatloaf and spread evenly on top.
- Bake for about 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, use half ground beef and half ground pork.
- Leftovers make excellent sandwiches the next day.
- Internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C) for safe consumption.
