Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup hot fudge sauce, plus extra for drizzling
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan and set aside.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the creamed mixture, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir just until combined.
- Gently fold in the hot fudge sauce, being careful not to overmix.
- If using, fold in chocolate chips or chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Drizzle with additional hot fudge sauce before serving, if desired.
Notes
- For extra richness, warm the extra hot fudge slightly before drizzling.
- Store leftovers wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days.
- This bread pairs perfectly with vanilla ice cream.
