Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- ¾ cup milk
- ½ cup water
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Prepare the batter: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk the egg, milk, water, and vanilla extract until combined. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until smooth.
- Heat the oil: Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep pan or pot. Heat over medium heat until it reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
- Fry the funnel cake bites: Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, drop small portions of batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches, flipping occasionally, until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate using a slotted spoon.
- Dust and serve: Generously dust the warm funnel cake bites with powdered sugar. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon to the batter.
- These bites are best served fresh, but can be reheated in a toaster oven for a few minutes.
