Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry or 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting or glaze for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix softened cream cheese with 2 tablespoons sugar and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In another bowl, combine 1/4 cup granulated sugar with cinnamon to make cinnamon sugar.
- Roll out the dough:
- If using crescent dough, press seams to form a single sheet.
- If using puff pastry, lightly roll into a 10×12 inch rectangle.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over the cream cheese layer.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log from the longer edge and slice into 8–10 rolls.
- Place rolls on prepared baking sheet, brush tops with melted butter, and optionally sprinkle extra cinnamon sugar on top.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden and puffed.
- Serve warm with powdered sugar or a simple vanilla glaze.
Notes
- Let cream cheese soften at room temp for easier spreading.
- Chill the rolled dough before slicing if it feels too soft.
- Want a bakery finish? Add a glaze of powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
- Bake in a muffin tin for a rounder shape and crispy edges.
- Freeze unbaked rolls for later—just bake from frozen with a few extra minutes.
