- 1 lb ground beef (or half beef, half ground turkey)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ketchup or BBQ sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 oz cheese, cut into 1/2-inch cubes (cheddar, mozzarella, or pepper jack)
- Optional topping: extra ketchup or BBQ sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a muffin tin or use silicone liners.
- In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire, seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Fill each muffin cup halfway with meat mixture. Press a cube of cheese into the center, then top with more meat to cover and seal.
- Add a spoonful of ketchup or BBQ sauce on top of each, if using.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, until internal temp reaches 160°F. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use cheddar for bold flavor, or mozzarella for great meltability.
- Don’t overmix the meat—this keeps them juicy and tender.
- Add finely grated veggies like zucchini or carrot for extra nutrition.
- Mini muffin tins make bite-size party versions—bake 10–12 minutes.
