A warm, handheld pastry filled with cinnamon-spiced apples and topped with gooey caramel. Flaky, buttery, and effortlessly elegant—perfect for cozy fall moments!

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 6 pastries 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 medium apples, thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting the apples)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • ¼ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional, for sprinkling)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Thinly slice apples and toss with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and flour. Set aside.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry and cut into 6 even rectangles. Place on baking sheet.
  4. Layer 4–5 apple slices on each rectangle, leaving about ½ inch around the edges.
  5. Brush the edges with beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 18–22 minutes until puffed and golden.
  7. Drizzle warm pastries with caramel sauce and sprinkle sea salt if desired.
  8. Cool for 5–10 minutes, dust with powdered sugar, and serve.

Notes

  • Use cold pastry for best puff.
  • Slice apples thinly so they cook evenly.
  • Don’t overload the pastry—just a few slices per piece.
  • Can substitute pears, add nuts, or cream cheese under apples.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze before adding caramel.
