Ingredients
Scale
- 8 cups mini pretzel twists or sticks
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- Optional toppings:
- Sea salt flakes
- Chopped pecans or almonds
- Melted chocolate for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar and stir continuously until fully combined and bubbling (about 3–4 minutes).
- Stir in vanilla extract and baking soda. The mixture will foam slightly—this is normal!
- In a large mixing bowl, pour the hot toffee over the pretzels and gently stir to coat evenly.
- Spread coated pretzels onto the prepared baking sheet in a single, even layer.
- Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating and crunch.
- Let cool completely on the pan. Break apart any clusters once cooled.
- Optional: Drizzle with melted chocolate or sprinkle with sea salt for added flair.
Notes
- Stir in 1 cup of chopped pecans or almonds for a praline-style crunch.
- Add 1/2 tsp cinnamon or a pinch of cayenne for a spicy twist.
- Use gluten-free pretzels for a gluten-free version.
- Drizzle cooled pretzels with dark or white chocolate for extra indulgence.
- Use vegan butter to make this recipe dairy-free.
- Let them cool completely for the crispiest texture!
