Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 cups (300g) light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup (90g) white chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/2 cup (90g) chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir constantly as it begins to foam. Continue cooking until the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch (20x20cm) baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a large bowl, whisk the brown sugar and browned butter together until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients using a spatula. Do not overmix.
- If desired, gently fold in white chocolate chips and chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the blondies to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For a deeper flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
- Blondies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- You can customize the mix-ins with your favorite add-ins like toffee bits or dried fruit.
