Ingredients
Scale
- 2 (21 oz) cans apple pie filling
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional, for extra spice)
- 1 box snickerdoodle cake mix (or white/yellow cake mix with added cinnamon-sugar packet)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (optional, for extra caramel flavor)
- Optional toppings: vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, whipped cream
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread the apple pie filling evenly in the bottom of the dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar if using.
- Sprinkle the snickerdoodle cake mix evenly over the apples—do not stir.
- Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix. Try to cover as much of the surface as possible.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Top with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- To make your own snickerdoodle cake mix, add 1/2 tsp cinnamon + 2 tbsp sugar to white/yellow cake mix.
- Best served warm, but leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated.
- Great with a drizzle of caramel sauce or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
