Apple Brownies with Maple Glaze

Apple Brownies with Maple Glaze are dense, chewy bars packed with cinnamon-spiced apples and topped with a buttery maple glaze. The perfect cozy dessert for fall or anytime you want comfort in a bite!

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 16 bars 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Brownies:
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 ½ cups peeled, chopped apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended)
  • For the Maple Glaze:
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or grease it well.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add egg and vanilla and mix until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Fold in the chopped apples with a spatula.
  6. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for 28–32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. While the brownies cool, prepare the glaze: melt butter and maple syrup in a small saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  8. Drizzle glaze over the cooled brownies and let set for 10–15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper for easy removal and clean cuts.
  • Don’t overmix the batter — just stir until combined.
  • Let the glaze set before slicing for best results.
  • Try adding chopped pecans, white chocolate chips, or a caramel swirl for extra flair.
  • Best apples: Honeycrisp for sweetness, Granny Smith for tartness — or mix both!
